Jim is the Chief Executive Officer of CoffeeTree Group (CTG)

Jim served in the US Navy 8 years active duty. His specialty was as Electronics Technician performing IT services working with diverse technologies; radar, sonar, mine warfare and communications transmitters. Jim is a big supporter of the Vets Medallion program for the hiring military veterans. Jim was honorably discharged in 1993.   

As the leader of this startup company, Jim has worked with a fortune 100 company to assist in a large divestiture which included setting up an IT group in the newly formed company. This divestiture included new suppliers, new agreements, and a new Data Center. CoffeeTree Group (CTG) is currently engaged with and providing solutions for several fortune 50 companies where we are providing IT consulting and/or IT services. CTG has several strategic relationships with Cyber Security companies, Cloud solution providers, Mobile application developers, and large technical solutions providers. CTG strives to make the customer experience friction less while driving efficiency through out your organization.

As CIO, Jim was engaged to drive success in strategic initiatives by facilitating every aspect by managing both business and technical resource teams. Jim lead the technical services required to enable the integration of Customer First and Workforce Mobility. The team migrated a primarily paper driven process to a fully enabled mobile solution which delivered improved invoice and payment processes, lead generation and organic sales growth.

As Chief Enterprise Architect in a privately held Equity firm the primary focus of the team was to simplify IT for business benefit. We reduced the number of systems, we centralized the support and services of many shadow organizations, restructured internal teams all while enhancing the sourcing strategies. We successfully implemented open source technologies and eliminated old technology toolsets.

Jim was the IT leader for Strategy and Planning, Innovation and Architecture. During those 3 years, Jim led major initiatives including IT Alignment for North America, re-sourcing IT functions and services such as replacement of WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi and mobility. In-sourced several IT functions and created regional Centers of Excellence teams. Assisted in the re-alignment of the legacy ERP systems migration of services off of the mainframe and replacement of the mail service system to Office 365.

Jim has performed the role of Transition Executive three times. In all cases, the outsourcer was not performing to the agreement and was unable to make the necessary changes which led to the replacement of the outsourcer. Jim led the termination efforts including the transition out and onboarding of the services to either a new supplier or to an in-house workforce. Jim was responsible for all technical elements within the new Sourcing agreements.

Over the past 20 years, Jim has been involved with 15+ acquisitions/ divestitures, managing the projects from due diligence to final integration/ separation.  Jim started his career in Information Technology at Ford Motor Company. The roles over the 18-year span include CAD/CAM support, Supplier and Performance Management, IT Management and Associate Director of IT services.

Jim resides in Detroit, Michigan along with his 5 children, he has 5 grandchildren, and he enjoys spending time with them while boating and golfing. Jim enjoys volunteering his time as travel basketball coach and mentoring young teens.
