Junior IT Manufacturing Plant Technician
Position Summary:
The Junior IT Manufacturing Plant Technician provides first-level technical support for hardware, software, networks, and production-related IT systems within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures smooth operation of plant floor technologies, assists in troubleshooting production system issues, and supports continuous improvement of IT-enabled manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
· Provide hands-on technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, handheld devices, and shop-floor equipment.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, software, and networking in both office and plant floor environments.
· Assist with setup, installation, and maintenance of PCs, thin clients, barcode scanners, label printers, HMIs, and other plant technology devices.
· Support plant-specific applications such as ERP/MES systems, production monitoring tools, and quality management systems.
· Monitor system performance and escalate recurring or complex issues to senior IT staff.
· Ensure plant floor IT systems comply with cybersecurity and safety standards.
· Document support activities, resolutions, and updates in the helpdesk/ticketing system.
· Assist with system upgrades, patching, backups, and routine maintenance tasks.
· Provide basic training and guidance to plant personnel on IT tools and systems.
· Collaborate with IT and manufacturing teams to support projects, process improvements, and technology rollouts.
Qualifications:
· Associate degree or equivalent coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred but not required).
· 0–2 years of IT support experience, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting (internships or co-op acceptable).
· Basic knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, Wi-Fi, LAN).
· Familiarity with ERP/MES or production systems a plus.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
· Good communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable interacting with plant floor operators and management.
· Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings or weekends, if required for plant operations.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to move between office and plant floor environments.
· May require lifting equipment (up to 30 lbs) and working in industrial production areas.
Reports To: IT Plant Supervisor or IT Manager
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Schedule:
· 2nd Shift: 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM or 5:30 PM – 2:00 AM
· 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM or 11:30 PM – 8:00 AM
